This is one of Thomas
Edison's original phonographs. It uses cylinders that were the first
type of recording device.
It is a model A with a serial number in the low 76082. It is nice to have something of
significant importance in history.
I spent a little time
cleaning, oiling and finally getting it working this weekend. I had
to weld one gear in place, install a lower pulley and put on a new
belt.
2 Minute video of it working.
This early edison
home model A phonograph has the serial number H 76082 and the last
patent date of May 31, 1898. I am selling this machine for
restoration--needs a reproducer, crank, belt, and a new spring (or
have the existing spring repaired). I wound the machine with a crank
from my own collection--the spring slips when wound. The case
retains the original green oak finish and a STUNNING original banner
decal! Other than being a little dirty, the original banner decal is
99.999% perfect! The bedplate/casting retains the original
pinstriping and decoration which has dulled over time--a good
cleaning/polishing would help in its appearance! The original finish
on the lid is very weak--the finish on the lower cabinet is
considerably better. The very side edges of the lid have tiny
slivers of missing veneer--hardly noticeable but must be mentioned.
The entire case/cabinet is very tight and solid. The motorboard
support/brace is missing the small screw which secures it to the
lower cabinet--easy to replace. Please email with any additional
questions! Buyer to pay $30.00 for DHL ground shipment, fully
insured. Payment is expected within SEVEN days!! NO international
customers unless you email me first! Paypal, personal checks, and
money orders welcome!!

It was missing a few pieces so I have started
ordering the parts to complete it. This is an original Model C
reproducer that came with the model A phonograph.
Offered for sale is
an original Model C reproducer to play 2 minute cylinder records on
your Edison phonograph. New gaskets have been installed and the
reproducer has been tested. Top housing is in "like new" condition
and one of the nicest I've seen. I've included several photos to
compliment the description. Please email questions or if you would
like additional pics. Payment by paypal, personal check, or money
order. Shipping within the US by Priority Mail will be $4, and I'll
ship to areas outside the US at actual cost. I'll also accept return
for a refund of the purchase price if the winning bidder is unhappy
for any reason. Thanks for your interest.

A few Novelty Posters.
